Madelyns estranged mother, Susan, arrives in town, after a five-month absence, to a cold reception by her daughter. Xander feels remorse for the death of Donna. Sea lions at the marine conservation are acting weird. Whales are discovered on the beach. The council removes Sheriff Bishop from office. Ryn senses something is wrong and goes back into the ocean to investigate, find a dead mermaid and is hit by a strong sonic wave. Back on shore, Ben, Maddie and Ryn discover a dead mermaid in the midst of transformation and an injured Levi. A pack of merpeople, along with the dark-haired female from before, arrive in Helens house. Lt. Nicole Martinez arrives in town and seduces Xander.
